Mouse's Halloween House
Adapted for the Felt Board by Kate McKnight
from the story Mouse’s Halloween House contained in the book Mother Goose’s Play House written by Judy Sierra
One day a little white mouse was looking for a new home for her three babies.
(place Mother Mouse and then the three baby mice on the flannel board)
Mother Mouse needed a snug house to keep them all warm during
the cold autumn and the even colder winter days.
She came across a large orange house.
(place pumpkin on the flannel board)
At the top of the orange house was a perfect brown chimney and some lovely green leaves.
(Add the pumpkin stalk and leaves to the top of the pumpkin)
Then she nibbled two holes up near the top to make windows
so her children could see outside.
( Place pumpkin eyes on the pumpkin)
Mother mouse nibbled a hole in the middle to make a door.
( Place pumpkin nose onto the pumpkin)
And then she nibbled a wide hole at the bottom
so that all her children could run in and out.
(Place pumpkin mouth on the pumpkin)
It had grown dark, so mother mouse lit a candle to light up the darkness.
( Place yellow eyes, nose and mouth on top of the black pumpkin face pieces)
The mouse family’s little house
was a sight to be seen.
It was a Jack-O-Lantern
Happy Halloween!
